• Hydrate immediately. When the flowers arrive, check the vase water level. If the arrangement came with flower food, make sure it's dissolved in the water.
• Keep away from A/C vents. Direct cold air from the air conditioning vent will dry out petals and leaves quickly. Place the arrangement on a surface away from the vent, not directly under it.
• Avoid sunny windowsills. Strip hotel rooms often have floor-to-ceiling windows with intense desert sun. Keep flowers away from direct sunlight, which can wilt blooms in hours.
• Change the water daily. Desert air accelerates bacteria growth in vase water. Ask housekeeping for fresh water, or refill from the bathroom tap — change it completely once a day.
