Flower Care
Keep Them Cool
Heat is a flower's enemy — cool temperatures can double their lifespan.
Professional florists store their flowers in coolers kept between 34–38°F for a reason: cold dramatically slows the aging process in cut flowers. While you don't need to refrigerate your arrangement, keeping it in a cool room makes a significant difference.
The sweet spot for most arrangements is 65–72°F. Above 75°F, flowers begin to deteriorate noticeably faster. Avoid placing arrangements near heat vents, sunny south-facing windows, on top of the TV or refrigerator, or anywhere heat collects.
One of the most effective tips: move your flowers to the coolest room in your home overnight. Even a few hours in a cooler environment can add 1–2 days of life to your arrangement.
Drafts from air conditioning can also dry out petals, so aim for a stable, cool environment rather than one with strong airflow.
